I finally took part in one of the many free life drawing sessions that Artomatic has been offering since November 5. Usually it’s nearly impossible to attend a life drawing session without paying some kind of a fee. Artomatic is offering these sessions for free where artists—both professional and beginners—can practice drawing the human figure. It’s an amazing opportunity that’s now available in Education Room 2, which is located on the first floor in Area 1. Each session lasts for three hours but you are free to come and go as you please. Usually a different model offers one or more poses in a half an hour slot so it’s easy for those who can’t stay for all three hours to decide when to arrive and leave. Of course you are free to stay the entire three hours if you wish.
The sessions are opened only to people over 18. People are invited to bring their own drawing supplies from home but if you didn’t bring yours, it’s no problem because some art supplies are offered as well. The sessions are opened to anyone regardless of how skilled or experienced you are. The purpose is to practice drawing the human figure in a nonjudgmental environment. The sessions are also located close enough to a bar so you can get your favorite beverage before you arrive.
When I participated at this particular life drawing session I heard various bands play live music. I later learned that the sound came from the floor above where the event takes place. It was a pretty laid-back environment as I drew various models. Here are the drawings I did that night (and they are definitely NSFW).
A few more of these free life drawing sessions featuring nude models will be scheduled at Artomatic on the following dates and times:
