Attention Artists! Volunteer Opportunity with the Smithsonian’s Studio Arts Courses!

The Smithsonian Associates Program offers upwards of 30 different hands-on art courses taught by professional instructors (not including photography classes, which do not use any volunteers). They are offered quarterly each year (seasonally). Many classes run for 8 weeks, but some are shorter duration.
We seek volunteers to assist with hosting these art courses. The time commitment is weekly, for up to two months at a time. Courses are scheduled weekdays, weeknights and weekends. Most volunteer shifts are for 3 hours a week, with a one month gap between semesters. Volunteer duties include welcoming participants, setting up the easels or tables, making announcements at the start of the first session, cleaning up the room after each class, and collecting participant evaluations at the end of the course. Please see attached position description for more details. (http://smithsonianassociates.org/ticketing/forms/volunteer/Associates%20Art%20Class%20Rep%20Volunteer%20Description.pdf )
NOTE: Studio Art Reps are encouraged to bring their own art supplies and dabble in the art making process, but do not have the full experience as the paying students. There are volunteer duties that come first at all times.
To become a Studio Arts Rep Volunteer, there is an informal interview process and 4 hour orientation and training, which includes a handbook for future reference. Studio Art Reps are expected to do at least 3 courses a year which add up to at least 40 volunteer hours a year.
