A Typical Saturday Night at Artomatic (Some Pictures NSFW)

The one thing about spending a Saturday night at Artomatic is that there is so much to see, do, and even experience. Here’s what I did when I spent a Saturday night at Artomatic on November 28.

I dropped in on a free figure drawing session featuring live nude models, which resulted in these NSFW drawings.

Then I shot this short video of a man doing a light dance in Area 2 while The D.N.A. Band performed on a nearby stage.

I walked outside where I saw a bunch of fire dancers bust all kinds of moves with flames.

I also shot a video of some of the performances.

Then I finished my evening attending the weekly Team Rayceen Variety Show. The show is like a throwback to those variety shows I used to see on television as a child (such as The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour and The Carol Burnette Show) except some of the acts are slightly more adult in nature than what was shown on television back in the 1970’s.

The acts included dancers, poets, musicians, rappers, and comedians.

If all that wasn’t enough, there was an artist who was doing a live painting while the acts were performing.

In addition there were other visual artists who are currently exhibiting at Artomatic who were given a chance to bring a sample of their work while describing what they do and where one can see their work.

The burlesque dancer Usagi closed the show with one of her performances.

There was even a contest where people could live-tweet what was going on while using the hashtag #ArtomaticSaturdays and the people who tweeted the most would win a prize pack. I went for it as I uploaded photos I took with my smartphone on my Twitter account and, well, I was among the winners of that prize pack. I won a larger recyclable bag (which will come in handy for whenever I shop in either Washington, DC or Montgomery County or even the local Aldi supermarket) and a smaller gift bag.

I also won some condoms and lube packets as well, which will come in handy if I ever find a man I want to use them on. (LOL!) My Prize Pack From the Team Rayceen Variety Show at Artomatic

So if you’re looking for something to do on a Saturday night without spending tons of money, Artomatic is the place to go until December 12.
