When did Artomatic begin?
Artomatic began in 1999 in the historic Manhattan Laundry building in Washington, D.C. A dozen or so artists originally toured the empty building and within a month, 350 artists had cleaned, lit, painted and showcased its 100,000 square feet. Over 20,000 visitors attended the first Artomatic over six weeks.

How often is Artomatic held?
The first Artomatic was held in 1999. The next three events occurred at two year intervals (2000, 2002, 2004). Starting in 2007, the goal became to hold the event annually. In 2009, we held our 10th anniversary Artomatic — our seventh event.
