Orange, Purple and Green (full size)
can tabs
32"h x 8"w each
2007
This set was made by gluing can tabs to plywood (wrapped in canvas. I spray painted each a secondary color, then sprayed each from the sides with the two primary colors that make up that color. The result is a piece that changes color. From the sides they look like a primary color, from the front they look like a secondary color.

I had many can tabs that I could not use for the chair. I used these rejects to make this piece. They are glued to canvas that was painted the same color as the chair.

The Can Tab Chair (full size)
84"w x 27"d x 42"h

What you are looking at is a chaise lounge chair, designed and built by me. The frame was constructed of two pieces of ¾” plywood on each side, held together with 3/8” all thread steel rod. The seating surface is made of aluminum can tabs, 40,000+ of them. The tabs were strung onto 1/16” galvanized steel cable. It took me about 3 years to design, collect tabs, and build the chair.
