This is a collaboration between the works of two University of Maryland College Park students, Rashida McCoy and Emily Chimiak. The two artists found each other two years after graduation. They are reintroduced to each others' work, to see how they have diverged. By fate, our lives have reconnected.

My mother came here from France when she was twenty. I was born in Raleigh, North Carolina. In order to keep in touch with our family, I visit France most summers. What a chance, to be able to enjoy two cultures!
On my first trip to France, when I was ten, I worked with my aunt making glass sculpture, and drawing with her designers. I studied art in college and became more serious at that point.
I graduated from the University of Maryland College Park in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and art studio. For the past two years I had worked as a Patent examiner of chemical technology applications at the USPTO. At the same time, I continued to study art with professors and friends, reading intensely, visiting galleries and, of course, painting.
My sister also has a dual major. She studies chemistry and writing at Amherst College.
