I can't seem to add my artist's statement (or I missed the window). So here it is.
I’m a pack rat who wears those over the counter reading glasses, usually bought at a boutique. When they invariably break, I throw them in a box. Then a phrase kept popping into my mind—if you could see me now. That combination became my next painting project which you see here.
I also had a bottle of Prozac from days when I worked. Had wanted to work that into a painting as well. To be earth-friendly, I removed the powder from the capsules and mixed it into the paint. See—Rose-colored Glasses.
Finally, I had been lusting to go to Sanibel Island to go shelling. In late February I sent myself there for my birthday. So here we are with traces of Sanibel shells and old reading glasses.

FYI: As a member of the Art League of Northern Virginia (Torpedo Factory) and the Capitol Hill Art League I have been juried into many shows in the past six years, including the Bin Gallery (current) at the TF. I have also exhibited in Group Shows at the Pierce School Annex, the Black Rock Center for the Arts in Germantown, Results the Gym and the 2007 juried mid-Atlantic print show at the Ellipse Arts Center. This is my third Artomatic (one and two being the Children’s Museum and Crystal City).
