I am a practicing fine artist based in the North East of England.
My primary medium is light. Conceptually it responds to personal experiences such as memory, relationships, mortality and the human condition. Often exploring environment and time, my work questions perceptions of what defines strength and permanence. I develop structures that combine seemingly robust and visually dense material such as stoneware with the ephemeral qualities and perceived fragility of glass and light. The resulting works transform selected objects and spaces through this interaction, while the inclusion of neon draws focus to specific areas or elements of the found/made objects while introducing a restrained element of colour.
Since graduating from the University of Sunderland (1999) I have exhibited my work in a variety of prestigious settings including within Europe, Hong Kong, USA and the UAE often as part of high profile exhibitions. My work has been exhibited alongside Vik Muniz (Royal Academy, London), Henri Matisse (Limosin, France) and more recently Turner Prize winner, Grayson Perry (County Durham, UK).
