This show of mine is titled “The Artists Creating Art”, and was inspired by a fellow artist, Gale Baker, that I paint with at The Art League School. When I was struggling for a subject to paint one day, Gale suggested I paint a painter painting one of my own paintings. She suggested that I capture the concentration that we as artists go through during the creative process. Each of the artists I have painted here is derived from images of people I know or have met while painting. One is even a self caricature. The canvas that each artist is painting is a subject that I struggled to paint. This exhibition has been a labor of love for me to bring to life. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed painting them.

Thanks Gale

The first painting in the series, “I Paint the Painter Painting” was completed in November 2008. In December 2008, I first exhibited this painting at the MOCA DC Gallery in Georgetown during our member’s exhibition. This painting was also featured in the Kingstonian and Beulah Corridor magazines as part of the promotion of the April 2009 Art Show and Sale of the
Kingstowne Area Artist Association, of which I am a member. The other seven paintings were created for this Artomatic exhibition. All the works in this show are done in oil on canvas.
