LGBTQ+ Fold-In with Miriam Julianna – Outside – North Plaza

April 13 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

A fold-in is a gathering of folks who are proclaiming with their presence that they will make space in their lives and communities for queer, trans, and gender non-conforming people to live authentically. As a participant, you wear a monochromatic outfit of any color. To accompany her installation in room 4046, Miriam Julianna will arrange you next to the other participants chromatically, and together we form a rainbow of people folding origami cranes.

RSVPing is not required to participate in the fold-in, it is just a request so that we can know how many to expect and to ensure that we have a full rainbow present at the event. Please invite any loved ones for whom this project would resonate. This is a family-friendly event and children are cherished attendees.

Fold-ins come out of Miriam Julianna’s ongoing storytelling practice For Eon done in memory of organizer Eon Harris Schroeder that draws inspiration from the Buddhist practice of szenzubaru and the rich history of activists from civil rights and queer liberation movements using their bodies to hold space.
