About Fred Hanna

Fred Hanna started piano lessons at the age of 8 years old. By age 10 he started creating small compositions of his own. Roughly 30 years later, he rediscovered a passion for the piano after the purchase of a new electric keyboard in 2012. His new book “Butterflies in Flight” is the culmination of what he has created over the past several years. He considers his music as contemporary instrumental.
Everything about creating music has been self-taught. Fred refers to creating music as a “”lightning in a bottle”” situation. You never know when inspiration will strike, and either you capture it or the idea is gone as quickly as it appears. Fred has lived in Maryland his whole life and is the father of two. His daughter, Raquel, has been playing the violin for over 10 years.
He enjoys different types of music including classic rock, 80s music, classical, and especially movie scores. Some of his favorite modern movie composers are: John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Jerry Goldsmith, Vangelis, and James Horner, just to name a few. His dream is to have one of his compositions featured in a movie soundtrack one day.
